The Expertise Centre for Human Trafficking and Human Smuggling (EMM) collects information, knowledge and experiences on human smuggling and human trafficking, thereby supporting law enforcement authorities.
The centre is a collaborative effort of the National Police, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (KMar), the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) and the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.
What can the Expertise Centre for Human Trafficking and Human Smuggling do to help?
Inspection and law enforcement authorities report all indicators of human trafficking to the EMM, including national and international signals from various other channels. The EMM collects some 4,000 signals of human trafficking each year, a number of which are periodically assessed with relevant partners and the national officer for human trafficking after analysis and the provision of necessary supplementary information. Trends in the field of human trafficking are discussed during this consultation and, if required, they are passed on for further investigation.
