I am currently providing support to an adult victim without a residence permit: what key regulations apply to this victim?
Victims of human trafficking without lawful residence status in the Netherlands are subject to the Residence Scheme for Victims of Human Trafficking. This scheme entails that victims of human trafficking are granted temporary residence status in the Netherlands if they report the crime to the police. Victims of human trafficking are granted a reflection period of three months during which to decide whether they wish to report the crime to the police. Victims of human trafficking may not be deported during this period. The temporary residence permit expires once criminal proceedings are concluded. The victim may subsequently submit a new application; for example, for a permit of continued residence on humanitarian grounds or for asylum.
